The Blind Side

The Blind Side is a movie about second chances and change. I expected a lot of dramatic scenes but ended watching a lot of funny scenes. The movie has a great cast and story but it didn’t quite deliver on its plot. There were parts that were dragging and sometimes leave you wanting more. Sandra Bullock delivered a great and solid performance as well as showing us her being a talented character actress. The movie’s cinematography was good as well as its score and music. But still, it leaves a lot of aspects out. Aspects that really could have propelled this movie to the direction that it should have gone to. I give it 6 out of 10.

Zombieland

I am a fan of zombie flicks. Movies like Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead and movies with “the Dead” attached to the end. Comical zombie flicks are a dime a dozen. My favorite being “Shaun of the Dead.” Before watching Zombieland, the first thought that came to my head is that this will never come close to Shaun. But I was surprised by the flick. Zombieland is the story like all zombie movies. The world is overrun by killer zombies. And the survivors must band together to survive. Yet this movie tells you how to survive if an event like this ever happens. Tips which makes the entire film funny to the bones. I was already laughing at the first main scene in the movie. And it goes on until the end. Zombieland has great cast as well as over the gross bloody effects. It also has a lot of surprises especially Bill Murray who just made me laugh as soon as he entered the room. Zombieland may not match Shaun of the Dead but it definitely came close. A really funny treat for everyone who loves gore, zombies and romance. I give it 8 out of 10.

Inglourious Basterds

Quentin Tarantino delivers a knock-out film. It’s true; you’ve never seen a war film unless you’ve seen it through the eyes of Tarantino. The film has a lot of touch of different movie styles which shows how Tarantino really loves the movies. It is filled with a plot of mystery and comedy. The film also has a great ensemble which really brings out the characters they portray. One thing about this film is that it doesn’t lag. Each scene leaves you anticipating the next and what it may cause to the scenes to come. This film shows us an “Alternative” ending to WWII, which is a very funny and entertaining way to end the war. An ending brought about by three of the main characters of the film. Characters that have a connection to each other and that connection drive the story. Inglorious Basterds is an action packed, serious, dramatic and comical way to view the war. Quentin Tarantino deserves all the honors he has received for this film. It is definitely an Oscar worthy presentation. I give it 8.5 out of 10.

A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol was my first experience of a 3D film. And it was an amazing experience. The movie really stayed true to the novel and had great visuals and was constantly evolving in spectacle.Jim Carrey has proven again and again that he really is a good character actor. The animation was great.Zemeckis has really outdone himself. In The Polar Express, you were sure that it was Tom Hanks, but here, you can't really tell if it was Gary Oldman or Bob Hoskins. And Jim Carrey's characters has his style and movement but you still doubt if it was him.The Score is even great. It mixes well with the film's changing mood.A Christmas Carol will probably be a classic like the novel.I give it a 7.5 out of 10.
